THIS KEYNOTE LECTURE WAS PART OF THE A BRAND NEW WORLD EVENT SERIES ON THE OCCASION OF THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OIIP

Perceiving the global proliferation of infectious diseases as a national security concern, “Global Health Security” has emerged as a policy paradigm since the early 1990s. Today, the politics of GHS is confronted with considerable critique, practical and conceptual, as well as with new challenges. In his keynote lecture, Professor Stefan Elbe will talk about changing concepts of health and security, the politics of technological innovation, and new forms of diplomacy that (re)shape global health and international relations in the 21^st century.

Program Keynote Lecture

The following day, 26 September, an International Workshop on the topic "Health in international relations: configurations of knowledge, power and policy"  took place. The Workshop was co-hosted and supported by the Austrian Institute for International Affairs –oiip, the University of Vienna and the Horizon 2020-funded project InsSciDE.
