Portrait: Tobias Gerber

Tobias Gerber is a soon-to-graduate BA student in International Relations at Webster Vienna Private University. He has also studied as a visiting student at Harvard University, where he completed courses at both the Government Department and the Harvard Kennedy School. At Harvard, he focused on nuclear strategy and the connection between leadership traits and militarized interstate dispute initiation, notably in Prof. Alastair Iain Johnston’s PhD-level course, "Comparative Foreign and Security Policy." After his time at Harvard, Tobias completed a traineeship at the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in New York. There, he observed the deliberations of the Security Council, General Assembly, and ECOSOC. His research interests include international security, U.S. politics and foreign policy, US-China-EU relations, grand strategy, and deterrence. Tobias plans to pursue a PhD in Security Studies in the United States.
