Annika Scharnagl, MA is a researcher at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs. After studying International Relations and History in Erfurt and Paris, Annika completed the Erasmus Mundus Master in International Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies (IMSISS) in Glasgow, Trento and Prague. In her Master’s thesis, she dealt with the deradicalisation of female IS supporters in Germany. At the oiip, she is working on the EU project PARTES (PARticipatory approaches to proTEcting placeS of worship), evaluating the Extremism Prevention at School II project in Austrian schools and is working on the SEEDS project on the topic of mental defence in Austria.Her research focuses on terrorism and extremism, political education, gender & security and the MENA region.
