The Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip) and the the University for Continuing Education Krems (UWK) cordially invite to this panel discussion on the eve of the US presidential election. The two institutions are continuing to build on a long-standing and productive cooperation, including on transatlantic issues. This event is part of a project assessing the prospects for transatlantic cooperation in times of 1) new geopolitical challenges, and 2) changing domestic perceptions of these challenges on both sides of the Atlantic. The project is generously co-funded by the Austrian-American Partnership Fund of the U.S. Embassy in Austria.
As we gather to explore these evolving dynamics, we are fortunate to have with us a distinguished panel of experts who bring invaluable insights from both sides of the Atlantic:
Dina Smeltz: With over 25 years of experience in international public opinion research and currently serving as Vice President of Public Opinion and Foreign Policy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Dina Smeltz is a leading expert on American and global attitudes toward foreign policy, with extensive experience across key geopolitical regions.
Carla Freeman: As a senior expert for the China program at the U.S. Institute of Peace, Carla Freeman brings extensive expertise in China’s foreign policy, nontraditional security issues, and U.S.-China relations, drawing on a distinguished academic career and leadership roles at Johns Hopkins SAIS and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center.
Sudha David-Wilp (tbc): Currently serving as Regional Director and Senior Fellow at the Berlin office of the German Marshall Fund, Sudha David-Wilp is a leading expert on U.S.-Germany relations, with over a decade of experience in transatlantic diplomacy and congressional outreach.
Moderation:
