Sherin Gharib
Affiliated Researcher
Sherin Gharib is an affiliated researcher at the oiip. Her work focuses on EU energy and climate policies, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of geopolitical developments, renewable energy, and energy security. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and another in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Vienna. Currently, she is completing her postgraduate Master’s program in Renewable Energy Systems at TU Wien.
Previously, she worked at the Austrian Ministry of Defence, the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs, the Austrian Development Agency, and the oiip, where she contributed to several projects. She has more than 10 years of experience analyzing EU foreign and security policy as well as policy developments in the MENA region. Additionally, she has taught at the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
Her current research focuses on green hydrogen imports from the MENA region and their geopolitical implications.
