Manuela Novoa Villada is a recent graduate from the MA in Critical Gender Studies at Central European University, located in Vienna, Austria. Her Master’s thesis, named Reimagining Sexuality Education: Transforming Everyday Sexual and Gender Dynamics as a Peace-building Strategy to Address Colombia’s Gender-based Violence Continuum, explored from an ethnographic approach the relationship between comprehensive sexuality education and peacebuilding in Colombia’s “post-conflict” period. At oiip, Manuela will be working with Dr. Julia Sachseder to continue analyzing Colombia’s peacebuilding efforts in relation to dynamics of violence and gender, especially in how the international community, and especially Austria, connects to Colombia’s attempts at peace.
